THOR’S Tipi Bar in the city centre of Lincoln is a fantastic festive treat, that everyone can enjoy.
The bar is located in the Cornhill area of the city centre of Lincoln, close to the train station. With easy access to public transport, including Busses, Trains and Taxi’s, it’s the perfect place to kick off an evening on the town, or relax and enjoy a tipple in an afternoon.
Two Tipi’s, linked and side by side, create the structure of the bar, and the entire thing is enclosed from all sides. The entrance is a set of wooden doors that open into the Tipi. As you walk past and look in, you catch a glimpse of the dancing flames of the fires, and candlelit seating areas, and it makes for an interesting view.
As you enter the bar, you feel an immediate warmth (quite literally), most probably from the several open fires that act as a focal point for the bar. With seats & benches surrounding them, it makes for a very cosy environment to enjoy a drink or three.
Towards the bottom (left hand side) of the bar is the Bar itself. Offering a selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, including Hot Chocolate, Mulled wine and Cider, there is choice that everyone will be thrilled by. There is also a moderate selection of cakes, all of which are reasonably priced and INCREDIBLY tasty.
The drinks are of ample size, and are incredibly reasonable for the environment and event in hand. I enjoyed a Mulled Cider and a Hot Chocolate with Baileys, and loved every drop. The cider was lovely and warm, and kept me toasty, and the Hot Chocolate was lovely and sweet (with a nice alcoholic hit).
For me, the partnering with a local food outlet is one of the best parts of THOR’S Tipi Bar. This year, they’ve joined forces with ‘The Cheese Cave’, ran by the wonderful Emma. It sits just outside of the entrance to the Tipi, in a lovingly renovated Horse Box.
As the name indicates, the food of choice here is CHEESE, in the form of sandwiches (toasted), including Raclette, Potatoes, toasties and more! I’ve written a separate review on this outlet (and the simply smashing Emma) in a separate post.
All in all, I find THOR’S Tipi Bar to be a wonderful experience in the heart of Lincoln. It’s a perfect place to sit and enjoy a few drinks with your friends and family (under 18’s are allowed in before 18:00 daily), or start off the evening with a tasty tipple. With polite and quick bar staff, great prices and a lovely environment, it’s quite simply a fabulous and quirky bar that you need to visit!
