What a GREAT turnout!
As expected, Pride in London 2019 was a fantastic show, full of colour and life! The streets were jam packed full of crowds enjoying the parade as it snaked past, and there was excitement and happiness in the air. Here’s our best bits from the Parade Day.
Parade Forming
We arrived at the Media office nice and early, and collected our Wristbands that gave us access to the Parade Route. As this was next to the parade forming area, we settled down for a while and took some photos of the groups as they arrived and took up their place in the parade. There were a plethora of different companies and groups, and it was wonderful to see them all interacting with each other as they set up their floats and props. Making notes of some of the more elaborate floats so that we could check them out later in the day, we took a walk down to the head of the Parade, and got talking to some of the groups on the way.
Parade Route
Finding the perfect place to take photos was a challenge, as there were so many locations along the length of the route that gave an interesting viewpoint. With this in mind, we set up camp in a few places so we had a nice selection of shots.
As the parade wound through Central London, the crowds were going wild. This was the show the crowds had been waiting for, and everyone was in a state of excitement. It was wonderful to see people of all ages, genders, sexuality, colour, race and more all enjoying everything the Pride in London parade had to offer. Truly wonderful to see everyone getting on.
Trafalgar Square
The entertainment was taking place throughout the day at several locations in Central London. We only managed to check out Trafalgar Square in the evening, taking in the delights of Willam and his drag Race family, followed by an AMAZING and glittery performance by Billy Porter himself. A truly enjoyable and fantastic couple of hours that kept the crowd tantalized and begging for more!
Central London
The whole of Central London was living for the part of the year. As the roads were closed, people were free to roam across the capital without issue, long after the parade had finished. This allowed the crowds to spread out among all of the events, bars, pubs, clubs and parties that were taking place on the day. Once again, everyone was in high spirits, and the excitement was palatable.
Here are a few of the shots from the day – the full gallery will be uploaded in due course, as well as video coverage from the day.
